Will Cuddihy is beyond honoured to be serving as this year’s Secretary-General for the fourth iteration of SMUS Model UN. He has been involved with Model UN at SMUS since Grade 6 and is now in Grade 11. A favourite Model UN moment of his is when he helped create an independent Michigan during a crisis committee focused on the War of 1812. Outside of Model UN, he can be found playing video games, playing guitar or violin, or running the SMUS trivia club.
A Grade 10 student at SMUS, Cindy is elated to serve as the Under-Secretary General at SMUSMUN 2024. Ever since attending her first Model UN conference in Grade 7, Cindy has become fascinated with politics and global affairs. From chaotic assassination attempts to frantically written notes, Model UN will always be a pillar in Cindy’s highschool career. When not inside a committee room, Cindy can be found scrolling endlessly on Pinterest and wishing she could buy her outfit board, watching Formula 1, trying to grow her Papa’s Pancakeria empire, and buying or making everything pink. Cindy wishes a memorable and enjoyable experience to all delegates at SMUSMUN and looks forward to meeting everyone!
A Grade 11 student at SMUS, Bianca is delighted to be serving as director for UNHRC for the fourth iteration of SMUSMUN. After her first conference in 2018, Bianca caught the Model UN bug, participating in over 12 conferences and staffing countless others since her start in Grade 7. She loves collaborative and constructive debate and hopes to bring that to this year’s insightful committee. From almost causing a nuclear war, to overthrowing the government of Liechtenstein, some of her most cherished memories have been made during Model UN. Outside of the committee rooms, Bianca enjoys playing tennis at the provincial level as well as going camping with her friends. She hopes that this year’s conference will be a great one and is eager to meet all of the delegates who will be joining UNHRC for SMUSMUN 2024!
A Grade 11 student at SMUS, Chelsea is delighted to serve as the Director of the Security Council for SMUSMUN 2024. After opening her eyes to MUN conferences in Grade 7 when participating in VYMUN 2020, Chelsea decided to continue with Model UN and is so grateful for all the learning and skills that her numerous conferences have provided. From discussing whether or not cannibalism is a good option for underdeveloped countries to assassinating the Premier of BC, Chelsea enjoys participating in MUN because of the opportunities to make cherished memories, meet new people and gain insight into global issues from different perspectives. Outside of the committee room, Chelsea loves to play chess, learn new languages, read books, and study the night sky through her telescope. She hopes that the Security Council will be an interesting and enjoyable committee for all involved and that all those involved in SMUSMUN will take away cherished memories.
Traversing his Grade 12 year at SMUS, Finley is honoured to serve as Crisis Director. From his first conference in Grade 8, nervously representing Iceland to leading SMUSMUN and chairing at VMUN, Finley’s passion for MUN—particularly crisis—has grown exponentially. Finley has found that MUN has improved his debating, negotiating, and his world knowledge, and he hopes new delegates will find the same. When not dressed in Western Business Attire, Finley enjoys going to the gym, learning about history, and baking. Finley hopes that SMUSMUN will be as memorable of a conference as he knows it has been in past years for him.
Peter is thrilled to be serving as chair for UNHRC at this year’s SMUSMUN. A Grade 11 student at SMUS, Peter has navigated the world of Model UN since middle school and made numerous fond memories, as both a delegate trying to make the most of obscure position assignments and a staff member cracking up at creative directive titles. When he’s not busy initiating hypothetical nuclear wars, Peter can be heard jamming on his guitars way too loudly, laughing at his own jokes, or yelling at the TV when a soccer game is on. He looks forward to reconnecting with familiar faces at SMUSMUN 2024, as well as meeting and creating a fun experience for new delegates.
Deristhi, a Grade 11 student at SMUS, is excited to serve as the Chair of UNSC for SMUSMUN 2024. After thoroughly enjoying a Global Goals conference in Grade 6, Deristhi decided to make MUN a permanent feature in her school curriculum. Over the last six years, Deristhi’s MUN journey has opened her eyes to human rights issues, social problems, economic matters, and health crises affecting the world. Outside of the committee room, Deristhi loves playing squash, watching movies, getting lost in a good book, and spending time with her family and friends. Deristhi is looking forward to meeting all the delegates, facilitating lively debate, promoting diplomacy, and working on resolutions that make the world a better place. Deristhi hopes that SMUSMUN 2024 will be a fulfilling, memorable, and inspiring experience for all.
Currently a Grade 12 student at SMUS, Aidan is jubilant to be assisting as chair of the HCC here at SMUSMUN. Having participated in MUN for around 6 years now, he has his fair share of memories, from starting national propaganda pub quizzes in Italy, to getting executed via lightsaber for high treason. Over the years, MUN has only helped Aidan improve his confidence, public speaking skills, and leadership, and he hopes to use his experience to provide a great experience for everyone. Outside of plotting assassinations, Aidan can usually be found studying for the upcoming physics test he always seems to have, playing video games he never plans on finishing, or playing Rugby. He looks forward to running his final SMUSMUN committee and hopes to make it the best one yet.
Working through his Grade 9 year at St. Michaels University School, Liam is delighted and honoured to serve on the UNHRC. After participating in his first MUN conference in Grade 6, Liam’s interest in world history, politics, and public speaking was sparked. From turning the moon into a corporation that went public, then capturing the majority share as China – to resolving so many conflicts on amendments, many of Liam’s most cherished memories are about MUN. When not sending world-saving/ending directives, Liam can be found playing rugby, basketball, sailing and singing karaoke to some of the worst songs ever known. This year at SMUSMUN he hopes to create a fun conference environment with engaging debates.
Haven Miller is honoured to be selected as the assistant director for UNHRC at this year’s iteration of SMUSMUN. From starting his MUN journey in Grade 7, to now in Grade 11, Haven has been an active participant of model United Nations in and outside of SMUS. As a staff member at SMUS mun this year, his greatest goal was to help expand the conference; bringing more students from both SMUS and other schools in Victoria. Outside of MUN, Haven also enjoys tennis, reselling clothing, and listening to music.
Sierra, a Grade 11 student at SMUS, is looking forward to serving as Assistant Director for the UN Security Council at SMUSMUN 2024. Since Grade 7, when she participated in Model UN online, she has participated in multiple Model UN conferences. Her favourite conference was the recent VMUN 2024, where in a crisis in the U.S. Senate she merged her state of Florida with Alaska by purchasing it for 250 million dollars and forcing sick people to build a highway connecting the two states. Sierra enjoys reading, cooking, and procrastinating on school work. She looks forward to seeing you at SMUSMUN 2024.
A Grade 12 student at St. Michaels University School, Sebastien has participated in MUN since his first conference of SMUSMUN in Grade 9. Participating in Model UN has allowed Sebastien to explore his interests in history and current events through engaging in like minded individuals and research. He is appreciative of his time with MUN and is looking forward to giving back when he serves as crisis staff for the HCC at the 2024 iteration of SMUSMUN.
Yule Choi, a Grade 11 student at SMUS, is very excited to serve as a crisis staff for SMUSMUN 2024. She started her Model UN journey in Grade 9 by participating in VMUN 2022 as Malawi in SOCHUM, which made her especially interested in global politics and public speaking. Since then, she has attended several conferences as an international student. She grew up in Portland, Oregon as well as Daegu, South Korea and currently lives in the amazing Symons boarding house surrounded with love and support. Outside of the committee room, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her loved ones. She hopes everyone who is attending SMUSMUN 2024 will have a jolly time. |
